About Ruikkaa

Ruikkaa (Руйккаа) is the developer behind this website. I'm not so used to talking about me, but that's the purpose of this page so I'm be forced to do it anyway.

In fact, I'm a programmer born in Argentina, and I'm a computer hobbyist, programmer, web developer and software developer. I love and support the Free (Libre) Software campaigns, Open Source Software Initiative and Defective by Design campaign.

Being behind my computer learning about technologies, software, cybersecurity and digital privacy is now a part of my life that I really enjoy. I also enjoy being involved on Libre or Open Source projects.

About the young Ruikkaa

Since I was very small, computers were my passion and main hobby. For me, computers are those sophisticated machines that, with the right instructions they have an near-infinite number of possibilities.

The first computer machine I used in my life was a desktop machine with Windows XP installed as operative system. I certainly don't remember what brand it was, but I remember that my primary hobby was to learn how to use it (and how destroy it). Although machine didn't have any video games installed, I managed to learn to install them, and that was the beginning of my obsession to dominate it.

I learned my first programming language at the age of 12, Python, this because I was obsessed with learning how to develop video games, and although to the date I haven't developed so many video games (more than one pair of personal projects) this was also my first step to my current main hobby: studying Software development and practicing it.

At the age of 13 my parents bought me a new computer as Birthday gift. The same day I installed my first GNU+Linux distribution in front of my friends, Xubuntu.

When I heard about the GNU Project and Free (Libre) Software, it changed a lot my way of looking at Software. I could say that it evolved my way of thinking about when the Software can benefit everyone and when Software is just a business facility that doesn't cares about community and user freedom.
